St. John the Baptist Church

St. John the Baptist Church

St. John the Baptist Church is located at 119 Rector Street.  Weekend Masses are celebrated in the Church (4PM Vigil, 9 & 11 AM, 6:00 PM Mass.  Weekday Masses are held in the All Saints Chapel at 146 Rector St.)

The parish beginnings were prior to 1830, and as the Tenth Oldest Parish in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, the original church was dedicated where the Upper School Building now stands, on April 4, 1831.  The current, or new church was built in the 1890s and dedicated in 1894 to accommodate the growing Catholic Community in Manayunk.  Visit this page for more detailed information on the history of St. John the Baptist.

The Manayunk parishes of St. Josaphat and St. Mary of the Assumption were merged with St. John the Baptist in 2012.

St. Josaphat Church at 124 Cotton St. is a worship site of the parish.

Through the generous help of key parish volunteers, St. John the Baptist Church is maintained throughout the year and helping hands are welcome. If you have contracting, maintenance, horticulture, or architectural abilities or a love of our beautiful church, please contact the parish office so we can get you in touch with our volunteer leadership team.
