OCIA:  Order of Christian Initiation of Adults
Join us for the journey of deciding if Jesus Christ is calling you to the Catholic faith,
the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (formerly RCIA)

This step by step exploration of the Catholic faith is for those:

-Who wish to become Catholic.

-Who are baptized Catholic but never completed the other sacraments of initiation (Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation).

-Who are baptized in other Christian denominations but feel drawn to the Catholic faith.

-Who simply wish to learn more about the Catholic faith.

What is involved?
We gather on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 in the Parish Center (Rectory), in a small, friendly informal group with the sole goal of assisting those in attendance with any and all questions or concerns regarding the Catholic faith. For those seeking Catholic Initiation, attendance at each session is required and we begin each September.   Catechumens/candidates are received into Full Catholic Initiation in the Sacraments (Baptism if necessary, Eucharist, Confirmation)  at the Easter Vigil the following spring.

Confirmation for Adult Catholics

If you are a Catholic Adult that has received the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist in the Catholic Church, each Spring we offer a short, four evening preparation course at St. John the Baptist in order to become a fully initiated Catholic through the Sacrament of Confirmation, which is held at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul,
generally on Pentecost Sunday (in May).

If this is something that interests you, please contact Kristi Bushner at faith@stjohnmanayunk.org or
call the parish office at 215-482-4600.

(Full Inititation in the Catholic Church
(Baptism, Holy Eucharist, Confirmation and Sacramental Marriage in the Catholic Church, if married,
is required to be Godparent or Sponsor.)

How about joining the Adult Faith Formation team?

Would you like to share your love and passion for the Catholic faith with others? If so, consider joining St. John the Baptist’s team. This consists of a small group of dedicated parishioners who are willing to offer their time and effort towards mentoring someone on their journey of faith. This is a deeply rewarding endeavor and often an avenue for strengthening one’s own knowledge and love for the faith. If you are interested in joining the OCIA team, kindly contact Kristi Bushner at faith@stjohnmanayunk.org.
